Job Objective:
To provide an independent and objective assurance/consulting services to Management, the Board, and regulator with the aim to add value and improve the organization’s operations, by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance process.

Key objectives:

  • Coordinate the activities relating to the Business Audit Unit (within the IA function) of the Company and its subsidiary entities and provide support to the Chief Audit.
  • Officer and the Head of Internal Audit & Investigations Function.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessment of the Company’s business process audit universe as a base for annual audit plan.
  • Deliver on the Company’s annual business audit plan and ensure that internal audits are performed in line with the required standards.
  • Ensure that audit issues are appropriately raised and addressed, and keep key stakeholders informed of internal audit activities.
  • Forge relationships with the SBUs covered by the IA function in order to be abreast of latest developments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Professional Qualification:

  • BSc from a reputable tertiary institution (preferably in accounting or other businessrelated fields).
  • Professional qualification will be an added advantage but is not required (i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIA or others of similar equivalence).
  • The presence of CFA will be an added advantage
  • Possession of an MBA/Master’s degree in relevant discipline will be added advantage.

Experience:

  • The individual should have up to 4 – 5 years of cognate experience, with at least 3
    years in Internal Audit or IT Audit work.
  • The job holder must have the level of expertise required to play team leadership
    role within the IA Function (Intermediate – Advanced).
  • 3 years of leadership experience, or at middle management/supervisory level will
    be an added advantage.

Technical:

  • Strong/detailed knowledge of the Nigerian financial services (insurance) industry, regulatory environment, operating practice, and technology.
  • Business acumen: maintain expertise of the business environment, industry practices and specific organizational factors. Be able to articulate clear expectations and business goals and link these to organizational strategy.
  • A well-developed knowledge of corporate governance, risk management principles and internal controls
  • Knowledgeable enough to show good grasp of the Internal Audit standards and how to apply the standards.
  • Apply ethical principles and values to the activities being audited, adheres to the organization’s key policies, practices, and procedures, assesses, and fosters the ethical climate of the board and management, etc.
  • Be able to manage the entire audit process from Audit planning to Audit reporting
  • Strong people development skills and experience of managing/developing a multi-disciplinary team of professional IA staff. Anticipate and respond sensitively to staff problems, concerns and questions. Be able to monitor staff performance and workload and provide constructive and timely feedback to help others achieve their goals. Coach others to enhance their competence and professional development.
  • Be able to persuade and motivate others through collaboration and cooperation â–ª Possess good communication and report writing skills
  • Be able to apply process analysis, business intelligence and problem-solving techniques
  • Data Analytics: Basic proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (Excel, Power BI)
