The purpose of the role is to sustain a market leading position in the Health Insurance market segment within Nigeria through effective and efficient oversight of Underwriting, product and pricing processes.
Role Qualification:
Academic/Professional: B.Sc./MBBS from a reputable tertiary institution, Actuarial or other Insurance certification might be a professional advantage.
Work Experience:
- 8-9 years total work experience with at least 5 years in related job role.
- Technical knowledge of health underwriting or health operations with basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Professional certifications are highly desirable, such as: (Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria – CIIN), CPCU, CIC, Cert CII, Dip CII, ACII, ALU, FALU, FLMI (LOMA), or certifications from recognized bodies like the Board of Insurance Medicine (DBIM).
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement strict governance in terms of the Underwriting delegation authority and approval matrix.
- Monitor performance of the portfolio and implement corrective actions with the support of the sales team.
- Continuously seek, propose, and monitor improvement opportunities in the operations, both internally and externally with sales intermediaries, as necessary.
- Regularly conduct portfolio monitoring and report results and recommendations to top management.
- Create innovative products with competitive pricing for Group and Individual LOB including local and international products.
- Lead or supervise the design of complex and customized customer solutions for local and international businesses to ensure strategic wins, client satisfaction, and profitable growth for the company.
- Manage a team of Underwriters by setting measurable targets and KPIs.
- Any other responsibilities that might be required by the Head of Technical and Business Optimization from time to time.
